Getting you website indexed in Google...
Having a great looking website that captivates your target audience is a great marketing tool to generate customers from. But as we all know getting potential customers to your website is easier said then done. One way of achieving this, is by getting your website indexed in search engines, this allows your website to show up in the search results under certain search queries. You may ask which certain search queries and this is where search engine optimisation (SEO) comes into play.
Within your websites code is an element called the title tag, each page on your website should have this tag and it’s imperative that your chosen keywords for each page exist within it.
For example if your website offers web design services in Cambridge then within your title tag you would have something along the lines of
"Web Design Cambridge, Web Designers Cambridge – Company Name"
Google would then take these two keyword phrases (separated by a comma) to display your website when the keyword phrase is searched. But placing the keywords in the title tag is just the beginning because Google takes other factors into account when working out how relevant your website is to the keywords you have placed and using those factors to work out where in the search results you should be listed.
But before Google can do any of this, it first needs to find your website. We can help Google do this by using 3 elements,
Building Relevant anchor text links, such as Web Design Cambridge from other websites
Manually Submitting the Homepage of the website to Google
Setting up Google Webmaster Tools and submitting your XML Sitemap. This can be done by setting up a free account with Google and adding Webmaster tools, within this program is a function for submitting Sitemaps.
